About me

I have been around horses and ponies since the age of five. As soon as I knew what a pony was I wanted to ride and pestered my unfortunate non-horsey family into riding lessons. Although the whole family gave it a go at one time or another it was really me and dad that did the riding while mum provided the ground support! We ended up with a rescue Exmoor cross, a Section C and when I was bigger, a TB cross New Forest.

After leaving school I went away to train for my BHS stages followed by positions as a dressage groom, freelance instructor, equine veterinary nurse and in a TB sales prep/breaking yard. A break from horses followed while I studied for a degree in Microbiology in London, followed by a PhD in Equine Grass Sickness research at Edinburgh University.I began riding again and a chance holiday in Portugal led to a love affair with Lusitanos and eventually one of my own.

My dad was a keen and talented amateur photographer with a special passion for bird photography. I learned alot from him and was always keen but it was an expensive hobby in the pre digital days! Another holiday to Portugal and the Fair in Golega convinced me to go digital and that in turn enabled me to practice and practice!

I enjoy taking pictures of all equestrian activities and the photography has exposed me to disciplines that I may not have readily considered or had the chance to experience before such as endurance riding and polo. I get a buzz out of capturing the right shot of horse and rider, be they in a pleasure ride or CIC*** event and can never wait to get home and have a look at them! I particularly enjoy capturing special moments between horse and rider/handler and the more unusual shots that can generally be taken in warm up or collecting ring situations.

This year I have been lucky to meet some lovely people who have given me a great start and I’ve had success both on the event photography front and also getting pictures published in magazines including Horse & Hound, Eventing and Scottish & Northern Equestrian. We are building up some nice repeat business for next year and have taken some new bookings already. I am constantly striving to offer an improved service, offering better value deals and a wider range of products to our customers.
